Halloween has crawled up behind us once more. Its stringy fingers will soon spatter spooks and terrify across our beloved games. Desperate to know which big titles are rejoicing the spooky month?
Calm that trembling heart because here are the most awaited Halloween gaming events in 2021.
New Horizons: Animal Crossing – The Fall Update
When the leaves become brown and orange, Animal Crossing’s Halloween season will return once more. Players can buy candy from Nook’s Cranny every day as they save up for October 31. The pumpkin-headed Jack will return on Halloween day itself and give out Halloween-themed items in exchange for your stash of sweet goods. You can also visit the Able Sisters before the date to choose some looks to suit the occasion. Lastly, Animal Crossing gets a party this year on Halloween day, with Marigold decorations available as a fresh seasonal item.
Apex Legends – Monsters Within and Shadow Royale
As of October 12, Apex Legends Monsters Within event has already begun, lasting until November 2. This update added a variety of spooky outfits for legends like Bloodhound, Revenant, and Caustic. In addition, every week of the event gives a set of tasks to complete, with which you can earn your free rewards. The disturbing Shadow Royale mode will also make its return on October 26, supporting fallen players to rise again as darknesses that can hunt down all the living enemy players. Lastly, Octane has a Day of the Dead skin from October 26 to November 2.
Call of Duty: Warzone – The Haunting
The Warzone’s spooky makeover will get back this year, from October 19 – November 2. Activision has said that the Scream franchise’s Ghostface will get included as a unique skin to acquire. We don’t know yet what else to anticipate from this year’s event, though there’s a great chance it will overlay with the upcoming Zombies more for Call of Duty: Vanguard. Also, get ready for new rewards to be earned during a limited-time mode. Activision promises to publish more before Halloween.
Destiny 2 – Festival of the Lost
Destiny 2’s yearly horror show gets back this year with the Halloween Gaming Events, along with monsters from the core theme. Celebrating along with Eva Levante, Guardians can go out to take on haunting areas on Nessus and the Moon. There is also a new Jurassic Green Pulse Rifle to get if you store up enough candy. Fortnite – Fortnitemares
Fortnite’s 2021 scare month highlights skin drops, with numerous designs returning or appearing in the store during October. A wide range of outfits has already been added, with lots more to come. Fortnitemares usually see a range of themed challenges getting added for players to work in, but developer Epic has remained quiet about what to expect this year. Along with the upcoming Junkenstein’s Revenge mode, the update adds a Draugr skin for Reinhardt, an IT-style clown skin for Roadhog, a Vampire Bat skin for Echo, and a vampire countess skin for Brigitte. So you are assured to show both stylish and scary.
Rocket League – Haunted Hallows
Bats play a crucial role in Halloween celebrations. But Batman only shows up as a statement outfit at parties. However, Rocket League is getting engaged in dress-up this year, as the Haunted Hallows event sees a treasure of Batman-theme added to the game. Gotham Park is the brand-new stadium, and three parts of the Batmobile are ready to purchase from the shop. In addition, the event comprises a selection of challenges players can finish spending on rewards associated with the event.
Sea of Thieves – Fury of the Damned
Streaming until November 7, Sea of Thieves’ Fury of the Damned event requires you to take on Skeleton camps and packs to impress the Bilge Rats. Finish enough tasks, and you can earn spooky cosmetic bonuses for yourself, your pets, and your ship. Don’t forget to rejoice in the Ferryman during the month as well.
